When should I start planning for my honeymoon?
Many couples start planning their honeymoon right away. Based on the time of year and popularity of the resort, there are occasions where the resort will sell out. Airlines publish flight schedules 11 months before departure. We recommend a booking timeframe of 6-9 months for best pricing and availability.
How much should I expect to spend?
If you are traveling from the Carolina area, most flights to Caribbean islands are going to cost $500 - $1100 per person depending on the destination. The more exotic the destination? The more costly the flight will be. Keeping that figure in mind, an all-inclusive resort will charge about $350+ per night with the more luxurious properties charging up to $1000 per night. Transfers can cost between $50 - $150 per person. For a 5 night Jamaica resort in July, you can expect to pay $3500 and get an oceanview room. There are so many variables such as room category, view, travel season, availability, etc that all play into cost, but rest assured, we do everything possible to keep your costs down. Booking deposits run as low as $200 per person.
How do I know which island I should visit?
That's where we step in and offer recommendations based on the information you provide. We will ask lots of questions so be prepared. This is a once-in-a-lifetime vacation that we want to ensure exceeds your expectations. We have traveled the Caribbean extensively and visited 100s of resorts. We don't sell anything that we haven't personally visited and feel comfortable sending our clients. On the other hand, there are some resorts that we won't sell based on those same visits. Trust us to make the best recommendations!
What kind of perks will the resorts offer me on my honeymoon?
We will notify the resort that you are on your honeymoon whether they offer a published amenity or not. Some of the smaller resorts may not publish a honeymoon amenity but are happy to do something upon your arrival. Most resorts will acknowledge your special event in some way. You will need to bring your marriage certificate when you travel.
Why do I need travel insurance? No one misses their honeymoon.
Insurance protects the investment that you have made in your honeymoon. Anything can happen that insurance will assist you in dealing with. Several years ago, I had a client book a Mediterranean cruise. We had this same conversation, and he chose not to purchase the insurance. Two days before the wedding, his fiance was hospitalized with a stomach issue. Luckily, she was well by the time the wedding rolled around. In the meantime, a volcano in Iceland was spewing volcanic ash into the air causing many European flights to be cancelled. Luckily, by the time they flew, there was enough visibility to allow their plane to land in Barcelona. While they were on their cruise, the airline handling their return flight experienced a pilots strike leaving hundreds of travelers stranded. Luckily, the pilots group allowed a Sunday only reprieve of the strike allowing travelers to fly on that one day which happened to be the day my clients were already scheduled to fly. This couple dodged three bullets but spent too much time worrying unnecessarily. These were three unique situations that won't likely ever happen to one couple again however every day there are delayed flights, lost luggage and unexpected circumstances that you should protect yourself from. I highly recommend the purchase of travel insurance.
I can't wait to use my new married name. How do I do that on my passport before I get married?
You don't! The name on your airline ticket and your passport must match by law. All bookings are made in the bride's maiden name to ensure a smooth travel process. You can change your name on your passport for future travel when you return.
How much do you charge and how do I pay you for your service?
We do not charge any service fees. The suppliers we work with cover these costs for you. We do, however, require a non-refundable deposit of $200 when we begin. That deposit is applied to your final payment. In the event that you decide to book your honeymoon elsewhere, the deposit is retained by our office for the work that we began. This policy insures that we only work with the best clients who are committed to working with us and not wasting time we reserve for our favorite people.
